Afghanistan paintings

Drawing on watercolor sketches, charcoal drawings and photographs taken in the field, Michael Alford's Afghanistan Paintings are a further exploration of his experiences in Afghanistan. With an eye for informal, off-duty moments, his paintings depict soldiers relaxing, working quietly, or merely waiting for the next command — scenes that take place on exposed patrol bases in the middle of one of Afghanistan's most highly-disputed combat zones.
